Salvatore Gargiulo was born on the stunning Azure coast of Sorrento Italy in a village called Termini. Termini is situated on top of vast cliffs that plunge directly into the blue mediterranean sea. Termini has the most stunning views of Napels, Mt Vesuio and the beautiful Island of Capri and it’s fiords, the scenery is simply heaven!
Salvatore’s passion for food was ignited from an early age, and encouraged & nurtured by his family. Farming, hunting, gathering and the preservation of foods were a way of life. Being the youngest in a family of 10, much of his life was spent in the very busy family kitchen with his beloved Grandmother, Mother and Sisters, who would prepare feasts for the family on a daily basis. Many of the family traditions of old were passed down to him which he incorporates with modern fusion at Botticelli of Brighton to this very day.
Salvatore has over 20 years experience of owning and working in restaurants through out Italy, Spain and England. After visiting family here in Melbourne in 2000, he fell in love with Australia and it’s people so much that he decided to permanently make Australia home in 2002.
Salvatore has expressed his love of Italian and European cuisine throughout his extensive a la carte menu and is always busy creating new experiences for you to enjoy.
Salvatore is passionate about home made, traditional, fresh, organic and local produce which is reflected in his menu’s and especially his Specials Boards. They are constantly changing to bring you new tastes and experiences with what is in season.
Salvatore also hosts and creates Italian Gastronomic Journey’s right here in Melbourne, at Botticelli of Brighton. These events are carefully crafted and held 4 times are year in correspondence to each Season. Every Event is different and expresses the vast diversity of Italian cuisine both modern and traditional. All dishes are matched with wines to give you the full experience of what it is like to eat, drink, share, laugh and talk about life like an Italian.
Our staff members come from all over the world and are here to make you feel special and at home. Sit back, relax and enjoy our hospitality. We hope to make your visit to Botticelli of Brighton a memorable one.
